For eyelid aesthetics, the upper and lower eyelids are generally evaluated together. The years that affect one will inevitably affect the other as well. However, in some cases, the lower eyelid or upper eyelid may appear much older or droopier than the other. In such cases, it makes more sense to intervene only in the area that is problematic.

Generally, signs of aging are seen on the upper eyelid. Excess skin on the eyelid can sometimes affect a person’s vision. However, in some rare cases, the lower eyelid is the main sign of aging.

Wrinkles and sagging in the lower eyelid, combined with bags under the eyes, give a person a tired and haggard appearance. The situation can become even more serious with dark circles under the eyes, which haunt us even in our youth.

Lower eyelid surgery is generally performed under local anesthesia while the patient is awake and takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. The muscle and connective tissue are tightened without the patient feeling any pain or discomfort. Any excess skin is also removed from the area with small incisions.

After the surgery, which is completed with minimal, tiny stitches that only you will be able to see, it is recommended to apply ice compresses to prevent bruising. Swelling that may occur after the operation can also be prevented by using your pillow higher than usual. Bruising and swelling will disappear within a maximum of 6 days if you follow your doctor’s recommendations.

Lower eyelid aesthetics is a procedure that can last for 10 years if the patient takes good care of themselves, giving you a more youthful appearance.
