Everyone is curious about smoking and its effect on aesthetic operations. If there is only one thing that all people in the world agree on, it is the fact that smoking is harmful. Smoking, which shortens your life and reduces your quality of life, plays a leading role in the death of many people today. Smoking affects not only your lungs but your whole body in a bad way.

Harmful not only internally but also externally, cigarette addiction turns women’s nails yellow, which they try to keep white, gives the person a permanent bad odor, and causes yellow, unhealthy teeth. It is never too late to quit smoking, which is the number one enemy of people who care about their health and appearance.

Smoking, which harms our appearance, does not stop there and adversely affects the aesthetic operations you have done to beautify your appearance. Let’s take a closer look at how smoking plays a bad role in both the process and the outcome of aesthetic operations.

Smoking reduces blood flow in the body as it increases the amount of carbon monoxide in the blood. This causes the area where aesthetic surgery is performed to heal late. Especially in operations such as facelift and breast aesthetics, blood circulation plays a major role for quick recovery after the operation. Smoking affects this task badly.

Moreover, this is not the only harm of smoking to aesthetic operations. Post-aesthetic scars, which are now minimized, remain more scars due to the fact that the blood contains plenty of carbon monoxide and flows slowly. The scars will be lighter in color and will cover a larger area.

Especially in the liposuction process where blood circulation health is very important after the operation, pitting is seen in smokers. For this reason, doctors make them quit smoking 1 week before the operation. It is also not recommended to smoke afterwards. At least not for a long time and the skin should be allowed to recover.
