Pre-Operation Interview

During the consultation, your complaints and your expectations after the operation will be evaluated. As a result of this examination, the size and shape of your breasts, the condition of your skin, your age, whether you will have children, and the new location of the nipple will be discussed with you. You will be informed about the details of the operation, including scarring, nipple sensitivity, breastfeeding, the type of anesthesia and the risks of the operation.

Photographs of patients who have had previous operations will facilitate your decision-making process. Once you have decided on the operation, my assistant will schedule a suitable operation day for you.

Preparation for Operation Time

Blood and lung films, mammography and, if necessary, breast ultrasonography are performed before the operation.
Conditions such as high blood pressure, smoking, drug habits, diabetes are reviewed.
You will need a companion to help you on the day of the operation and for the next few days.

Drugs and Alcohol Use

Aspirin and derivative drugs are discontinued one week before the operation. (Do not discontinue your regular medications without consulting your doctor).
It is recommended not to smoke for a period of time before and after the operation.

Things to Consider During the Day

On the day of the operation, do not wear make-up or hair gel, wear comfortable clothes and leave your jewelry at home.
Nothing should be eaten or drunk 6 hours before the operation.
You should be in the hospital about one hour before the operation.

Arrival to Hospital

When you arrive at your reserved room, you will be given an oral medicine if you wish, which will relax you.

Operation Technique

In the aesthetic breast reduction operation, the large breast tissue is reshaped according to the body size of the person.
Excess breast tissue and the skin on it are removed and the nipple is moved to where it should be.
No matter which method is applied, scars remain around the nipple. However, these scars are evident at the beginning and may become indistinct over time.
The degree of scarring after the operation depends on the size of the breast, the operation method used and the scarring characteristics of the patient’s skin.

Form of Permission in the Nipple

The most common technique: A 4.5-5 cm scar around the nipple and down the center of the lower edge of the nipple.

In some special cases: In extremely large breasts, it can be applied as the first of the operation types listed above.

Anesthesia Type

Breast lift operation is performed under general anesthesia. In this way, the patient is completely asleep during the operation and does not feel anything.

Operation Duration

On average, the operation takes about 3 hours. This time may vary depending on the technique chosen and the scope of the intervention.

Recovery Process

Postoperative period is usually comfortable and pain is minimal. Arm movements may be limited. A bra-like dressing is applied to the breasts or a bra is put on immediately. Pipes called drains are usually placed in both breasts and removed within 24-72 hours. A separate dressing is placed on the nipple and checked after 2 days. After 7 days, the dressings are opened. The patient stays in the hospital for 1-3 days. The patient wears a sports bra for 6 weeks and massage is recommended. In the early period, there may be swelling, numbness in the nipple and pinkish discoloration on the skin. These disappear spontaneously in a short time.

The patient can return to work after 1 week. For 3 months, it is recommended to avoid heavy sports. Aesthetic breast reduction usually gives good and lasting results, improves the mental health and quality of life of the patient and her partner. The newly shaped breast is durable for a long time.

Breast reduction is not only an aesthetic but also a health operation. Scientifically, it has been shown that removing breast tissue can offer some protection from breast cancer.
